I realize this forum is mainly for pens, particularly fountain pens.
But I would like to take the advantage of this section's Chinese name 筆 to post my hobby, pencil collecting.
I started collecting pencils in early 1980's for its endless ideas and creative graphic presentations within such a limited space (basically a tube shape).
And, it is cheap, almost available everywhere in the world.
At the same time, it is very challenging and takes a bit of luck to bump into those bearing a corporate name (eg. hotels, companies, fashion brands...) because you cannot find them in stationery shops.
Some pencils are really rare when they are promotional/advertising gifts which only run a short period of time. And after people use them, they are dumped.
I am of course a keen, daily pencil user. I do not use mechanical pencils, those you need to refill.
So far my portfolio reaches 2,000+ different pencils from around the world. Some gurus might have more than 20,000 pieces.
Here is the most expensive one I purchased many years ago in Frankfurt. The set costed about HKD3,000 in early 1990.
