last one is good because its quite natural given preserving the highlights and shadows, #1 n #2 look rather too........HDR, to me.

HDR looks too artificial to me. Gradient filters are still my choice..... (becoz I shoot with film mostly

HDR is quite diffcult to keeping the real look indeed , just trying the effect, sometimes may be funny.

You are right, GND is a must even digital photography.

For certain situations, it may be useful in b&w. For color, sometimes it looks more like an illustration

The effects are very special indeed!

Sometimes I prefer the non-HDR pics, sometimes the HDR ones. Depends.
