I ordered 50AA when it was most expensive and just launched, I waited and the "flare issue" came and I cancelled the ordered. Lucky for me...considering the price drop and Leica fixed the flare issue.
I have been looking at 50AA pictures/testings/reviews all the time. I think the transition of the lens from point in focus to background is not that smooth, especially with closer subjects, a bit like "cut and paste". Some would prefer this type of "slice of focus planes" while I am still not very used to it. This is my major dislike.
I am still attracted because 50AA is sharper than the current version at f2-f2.8 (at f4/5.6 the differences are small), has more solid colors/tones and it handles low light situations better with more details.
I am also worried that once I brought it, I would shoot only with it for a few months...and then, start to go back to the older ones....This happened to me on 75A, 90A and 50/1.4A |
