The number of HK composers for "serious" music is comparatively small, their works however are always of high quality and have demonstrated composition techniques evolved out of the confrontation between the eastern and the western philosophies. Sadly, owing to the limited performance opportunities and the attitude of many local audience on music made by local composers, it has been rather difficult for these compositions to win the attention they deserve. This situation remains over the years and it is a pity that not many local compositions are published each year.
Here are two LPs from my collection of the 70s that I treasure very much: "Contemporary Hong Kong Music 1 & 2 (香港現代作品集1及2)", as they are hard evidence to show how good our local composers can be. Moreover, it will be very difficult, if possible at all, to get these LPs nowadays, perhaps only from music library from universities or the government.
